Being able to help resolve your IT issues in a fast and efficient manner generally means that we need as much information as possible. Information over the phone is great but..seeing an error, or being able to see what it is you are doing that is resulting in an issue, is worth its weight in gold.
Below are three ways that you can grab a screen short, or give us an end to end process. Obviously we will still do our remote access and control your computer when the time is right but giving us the chance to get a head start is great.
- Print Screen – pressing Print Screen will capture the desktop and then you can paste it in to a document or an email
- Snipping tool – Since Windows 7 there has been a product called the “Snipping tool” that is built in to the operating system that allows you to cut up various areas of the screen and again attach them to documents, emails etc. Below are some links that show you how to use it depending on the age of your computer.

- How to – Windows 7 – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uL3h5xns6DM
- Record steps – Again, since Windows 7, there has been a product that allows you to record the steps that you are doing in to a single file. This means that you can record how you are getting an issue, and then send us the result so that we can see exactly what is going on. If you want to see how that works, watch this video – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdyeLJ48lPM
So give it a go and try and log your ticket via email with a bit more information using the functionality above.
Remember, logging a ticket via email is a very quick and less time consuming method than phoning up for non-emergency issues.
This is truly useful, thanks.
